Nokia partners with Indosat to deploy 5G network across Indonesia

June 9, 2026 5:59 AM

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) announced a partnership with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison to modernize Indonesia's mobile network infrastructure through advanced 5G Radio Access Network technologies. The deployment will cover low-band and mid-band 5G across the country.

Under the agreement, Nokia will deploy its Habrok and Pandion radio families, Levante basebands, Centralized RAN and network management platforms. Low-band 5G will be introduced across the full network, with mid-band 5G covering approximately 80% of the network over the next three and a half years.

The partnership includes collaboration with NVIDIA on AI-RAN technology. The companies plan to conduct field trials in Indonesia by the end of 2026, following initial AI-RAN demonstrations. Nokia will work on AI algorithms designed to improve spectral efficiency on NVIDIA AI-RAN platforms as part of the upcoming trials.

"The next phase of network evolution will be defined by how well operators combine connectivity, intelligence and scale," said Justin Hotard, President and CEO of Nokia. "Together with Indosat and NVIDIA, Nokia is helping build a network that can do exactly that."

Vikram Sinha, President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, stated the collaboration will create "a reliable and AI-ready network foundation that will elevate connectivity and create a more seamless digital experience for every customer."

The deployment aims to enhance network capacity, performance and coverage across Indonesia while supporting enterprise applications across sectors including public services and digital services. The upgraded infrastructure will incorporate AI-driven automation and energy-efficient technologies.

Indosat operates the AI-RAN Innovation Center in Surabaya and participates in the NVIDIA AI Technology Center ecosystem. The partnership supports applications in government services, healthcare, education and agriculture sectors.
