Salesforce to acquire m3ter for consumption billing expansion

June 8, 2026 4:22 PM

Investing.com -- Salesforce announced Monday it has signed an agreement to acquire m3ter, a metering and rating platform for consumption-based monetization. The deal will add high-volume mediation, metering and rating capabilities to Agentforce Revenue Management.

The acquisition aims to help companies launch, track, scale and bill using flexible usage and outcome-based pricing models. m3ter's platform operates in near real-time at enterprise scale, allowing customers to ingest product usage data, configure consumption-based billing scenarios and automate monetization data flows across CRM, ERP and quote-to-cash systems.

"Every company is looking for more flexibility in how they monetize their products, especially as AI shifts the landscape from traditional subscriptions to consumption-based models," said Meredith Schmidt, EVP & GM of Agentforce Revenue Management at Salesforce. "With m3ter, Salesforce will offer native consumption billing alongside our existing models, giving our customers more choice in how they grow their revenue without ever leaving the Salesforce platform."

Griffin Parry, founder and CEO of m3ter, said the company was founded to solve problems in usage-based pricing, drawing on over a decade of experience building cloud-based backend services. "Joining Salesforce allows us to bring our high-scale mediation and rating capabilities to the world's largest enterprise install base, helping every Salesforce customer unlock modern, AI-driven pricing models," Parry said.

The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of Salesforce's fiscal year 2027, subject to customary closing conditions. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
