Apple introduces Siri AI and enhanced parental controls at WWDC

June 8, 2026 2:15 PM

Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) announced new software features at its Worldwide Developers Conference, including Siri AI and expanded parental controls across its operating systems. The company previewed iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27, and tvOS 27, scheduled for release this fall.

Siri AI represents a redesigned version of Apple's voice assistant, integrated across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro devices. The system can access personal context from messages, emails, and photos, and includes a dedicated Siri app for conversation history synced through iCloud.

The parental control updates include Child Account setup, communication safety features requiring approval for new contacts, and redesigned Screen Time tools. Parents can set daily time limits for entertainment, gaming, and social media applications based on recommendations from child development experts.

Performance improvements include app launch speeds up to 30 percent faster on iPhone and iPad, photo loading up to 70 percent faster, and AirDrop transfers up to 80 percent faster. File transfers between external drives and iPad are now up to five times faster.

Additional features include cross-platform iCloud Shared Albums, Health app support for perimenopause and menopause tracking, custom EQ settings for AirPods users, and enhanced Apple Maps with AI-powered Flyover imagery.

Apple Intelligence and Siri AI will be available on iPhone 16 models and later, iPhone 15 Pro models, iPad models with M1 chips or later, Mac computers with M1 or later, Apple Vision Pro, and select Apple Watch models. The features support 16 languages including English, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

Developer testing begins immediately through the Apple Developer Program, with public beta access available next month. The software updates will be free when released this fall.
