Apple unveils next-generation AI features across devices this fall

June 8, 2026 2:15 PM

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) announced an updated version of Apple Intelligence featuring new artificial intelligence capabilities across its device ecosystem, according to a company press release.

The enhanced AI system integrates Apple Foundation Models developed in collaboration with Google's Gemini models. Features will be available to developers for testing immediately and to consumers this fall with iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27.

New capabilities include photo editing tools in the Photos app, with Spatial Reframing allowing users to adjust image perspective after capture and an Extend tool to expand image boundaries. Safari receives tab organization features and webpage monitoring through a "Notify Me" function that alerts users to changes like price drops or product restocks.

The updated Image Playground can generate photorealistic images using a new generative model running on Private Cloud Compute. Generated images will include hidden SynthID watermarks for identification purposes.

Apple also introduced Siri AI, described as an enhanced version of its voice assistant with expanded conversational abilities and a dedicated app. The system can search across messages, emails, and photos while taking actions within applications.

"Truly helpful AI must be centered on our users' needs, deeply integrated into the products they rely on every day, grounded in personal context, and built with privacy at every step," said Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of Software Engineering.

The system supports 16 languages including English, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Compatibility requires iPhone 16 models or later, iPhone 15 Pro models, iPad mini with A17 Pro, iPad models with M1 or later, and Mac models with M1 or later.

Some features include daily usage limits due to server processing requirements, with increased access available through iCloud+ subscription plans.
