US military disables oil tanker bound for Iran in Gulf of Oman
Investing.com -- US forces disabled an empty oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman on Monday after the ship violated the blockade against Iran by attempting to reach an Iranian port.
US Central Command disabled the Palau-flagged M/T Marivex as it traveled through international waters toward Iran. An F/A-18 Super Hornet from USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) fired a precision munition into the ship's engineering and steering spaces after the crew did not comply with directions from US forces. The Marivex is no longer sailing to Iran.
CENTCOM forces have disabled seven non-compliant vessels, redirected 134 ships that complied, and allowed 42 vessels carrying humanitarian aid to pass since the blockade began on April 13.
