Eco Wave Power explores AI wave energy projects with universities

June 8, 2026 8:35 AM

Eco Wave Power Global AB (NASDAQ: WAVE) announced it is in discussions with Florida Atlantic University and the University of Michigan regarding AI-powered wave energy applications and coastal data center infrastructure development.

The discussions focus on two initiatives. The first involves developing WaveGPT, an AI platform designed to analyze operational data from wave energy installations for predictive analytics and performance optimization. Eco Wave Power submitted a TEAMER application with Florida Atlantic University for this project.

The second initiative explores a potential collaborative grant submission for a wave-powered coastal data center concept that would combine wave energy generation, cooling technologies, and energy storage systems.

The strategic meeting at Florida Atlantic University included experts in marine renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and energy systems. Participants included Dr. Yufei Tang, Director of the Florida Power & Light Center for Intelligent Energy Technologies at FAU, and Professor Lei Zuo from the University of Michigan.

"By combining marine renewable energy, advanced digital twins, predictive analytics, and intelligent control systems, we have an opportunity to develop next-generation energy infrastructure," said Dr. Tang.

Eco Wave Power CEO Inna Braverman stated that AI is expected to drive significant electricity demand growth and that wave energy could support coastal digital infrastructure needs.

The company's technology was featured during NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang's GTC keynote presentations in San Jose and Taipei as part of demonstrations on simulation and digital twin applications.

Eco Wave Power operates wave energy installations that convert ocean waves into electricity using coastal infrastructure. The company has projects in Israel and the United States, with additional projects planned in Portugal, Taiwan, and India totaling 404.7 MW.

The discussions and grant applications remain subject to review and funding approvals, according to the press release statement.
