Waters launches new chromatography columns for drug analysis

June 8, 2026 8:03 AM

Waters Corporation (NYSE: WAT) announced the launch of BioResolve Peptide and GTxResolve Lipid Phenyl-Hexyl+ and C18+ Columns, designed for analyzing GLP-1 peptides, insulin, and lipid nanoparticles in biopharmaceutical development.

The company states the columns deliver up to 3x faster GLP-1 characterization and 2x faster lipid nanoparticle component analysis compared to existing methods. The products feature reversed-phase column technology with specialized surface chemistries and superficially porous particles designed to separate structurally similar impurities.

The columns are specifically quality control batch-tested for GLP-1 analysis and lipid nanoparticles, according to Waters. They are available in Phenyl-Hexyl+ and C18+ chemistries with 230 Å pore size particles and support both UHPLC and HPLC systems.

"We have made simultaneous advances in both chemistry and particle physics to deliver the first columns Waters has introduced to market specifically QC batch-tested for GLP-1 analysis and lipid nanoparticles, solving a longstanding customer pain point," said Erin Chambers, Vice President, General Manager, Consumables & Lab Automation at Waters.

The BioResolve Peptide columns target GLP-1 peptides and insulin analysis, while GTxResolve Lipid columns focus on lipid nanoparticle workflows. The company claims the technology addresses challenges in resolving low-level impurities that can affect regulatory approval and patient safety.

Customer testimonials included in the announcement highlighted improved resolution and reduced run times. Ashish Kanhed from Alembic Pharmaceuticals noted "outstanding resolution between our peptide therapeutics and related impurities," while Adam Kowalczyk from Acuitas Therapeutics reported "reduced run times and excellent peak shape" for lipid analysis.

The columns will be available globally starting June 9, 2026, beginning with the 1.6 µm Phenyl-Hexyl+ phase. Waters is a Massachusetts-based analytical instrument company with approximately 16,000 employees globally.
