June 5, 2026 1:55 PM

Investing.com -- President Donald Trump said Friday that he wants to see lower interest rates but will leave the decision on a potential rate cut to Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh during the October meeting.

Warsh was sworn in as the new Fed Chair on May 22, 2026. Trump has repeatedly criticized the Fed and its former Chair Jerome Powell for not reducing interest rates.

Warsh has pledged to maintain the Federal Reserve's independence.
