Guardian Metal Resources appoints Dr. Mark Thorpe to board

May 21, 2026 2:00 AM

Guardian Metal Resources plc (NYSE.A:GMTL)(LON:GMET)(OTCQB: GMTLF) announced the appointment of Dr. Mark Thorpe as an Independent Non-Executive Director, subject to completion of AIM due diligence requirements.

Dr. Thorpe brings over 30 years of mining industry experience focused on environmental, permitting and community engagement initiatives. He holds a Ph.D. in mine land rehabilitation from the University of Saskatchewan and previously served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Canada Mining Innovation Council.

The appointment follows the departure of Mark Burnett, who stepped down from his Non-Executive Director role on May 21, 2026, to focus on other business interests. Burnett served as an original director during Guardian Metal's transition from a private company to a dual-listed entity on the London and New York exchanges over five years.

"Dr. Mark Thorpe's appointment to the Board as Independent Non-Executive Director is an exciting and important step in Guardian Metal's evolution as we look to reshore U.S. mined tungsten supply for the first time in over a decade," said J.T. Starzecki, Executive Chairman.

Guardian Metal operates two tungsten projects in Nevada: Pilot Mountain and Tempiute. In July 2025, the U.S. Department of War invested $6.2 million in the company's subsidiary under the Defense Production Act to support the Pilot Mountain project. The company completed its NYSE American listing on March 20, 2026.

The company stated that a further announcement including regulatory disclosures will be made in due course.
