Surf Air Mobility elects Shawn Pelsinger as board chairman
Surf Air Mobility Inc. (NYSE: SRFM) announced the election of Shawn Pelsinger as Chairman of the Board of Directors, effective July 24, 2026, according to a company statement. The appointment coincides with the company's Annual Shareholder Meeting.
Pelsinger will succeed Carl Albert, who plans to retire from the board at the end of his current three-year term and transition to Chairman Emeritus while serving as a company advisor.
Pelsinger has served on Surf Air Mobility's board since October 2025 and currently holds the positions of Chief Legal Officer and Chief Administrative Officer at Acrisure, a fintech provider. He spent ten years at Palantir Technologies as Global Head of Corporate Development and Senior Counsel, where he helped establish the strategic partnership between Palantir and Surf Air Mobility in 2021.
During his tenure at Palantir, Pelsinger led partnerships with companies including Airbus, Korea Telecom, Fujitsu, and Credit Suisse. He contributed to the development of Skywise, a data platform for commercial aviation created through the Palantir-Airbus partnership.
Pelsinger previously practiced law at Shearman & Sterling LLP and has served as an adjunct professor at Columbia Law School since 2013. He also held board positions at Palantir Technologies Japan, K.K. and Palantir Korea, LLC.
Surf Air Mobility operates an air mobility platform with its SurfOS software operating system powered by Palantir Technologies. The Los Angeles-based company provides technology services to the private aviation market and operates commuter airline services.
