Broadcom launches Tanzu Platform agent foundations for AI applications
Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ: AVGO) announced VMware Tanzu Platform agent foundations at the AI in Finance Summit, introducing a secure runtime environment for autonomous AI applications. The platform extends Tanzu Platform capabilities to AI agents on VMware Cloud Foundation.
The new system provides a platform-as-a-service environment for AI agents built on VMware Cloud Foundation infrastructure. The runtime includes security features such as immutable supply chains using trusted Buildpacks instead of unverified Dockerfiles, structural secrets isolation to prevent agents from accessing each other's credentials, and zero-trust networking with predefined resource limits.
The platform offers developers access to pre-curated models, Model Context Protocol servers and marketplace services. It includes enterprise-ready data engines such as VMware Tanzu for Postgres with pgvector, along with caching, streaming and data flow services.
Tanzu Platform agent foundations uses VMware Cloud Foundation infrastructure APIs and leverages VMware vSphere Kubernetes Service for scalable marketplace services. The system provides automatic scaling of underlying infrastructure resources and includes high availability features with self-healing capabilities.
"Agentic application development is evolving fast. We are partnering with our customers to innovate through this changing landscape," said Purnima Padmanabhan, General Manager, Tanzu Division, Broadcom.
The announcement includes partnerships with MomentumAI and Mphasis for implementation in regulated industries. IDC Research Manager Matthew Flug noted the platform's ability to help organizations move beyond initial AI commitments to scalable implementations.
The information was disclosed in a company press release.
