Stryker reports network incident contained, manufacturing operations stabilizing
Stryker Corporation (NYSE: SYK) reported that a network security incident affecting its systems has been contained, with manufacturing operations continuing to stabilize as the company works to restore full capabilities.
The medical technology company stated that internal teams are working with external partners and government agencies to restore systems supporting customer operations, ordering and shipping. Stryker said it removed an unauthorized party from its environment after discovering the breach.
The company initially found no indication of ransomware or malware during early investigation stages. Further analysis conducted with Palo Alto Networks Unit42 and other security experts identified that the threat actor used a malicious file to run commands and hide activity within Stryker's systems. The company emphasized that this file was not capable of spreading within or outside its environment.
Stryker stated that its investigation found no evidence of malicious activity directed toward customers, suppliers, vendors or partners. The company received a General Assurance Letter from Unit42 supporting these findings.
Manufacturing capability is increasing as critical production lines and plants come back online, with the company prioritizing patient needs in its restoration efforts. Stryker described this as a round-the-clock effort representing the organization's top priority.
The company serves global markets in medical devices and equipment, with operations spanning multiple manufacturing sites worldwide.
