Seven Key Items on Apple's (AAPL) iPhone 5

September 28, 2011 9:13 AM EDT
Here's what the Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone 5 is going to have, according to analyst views and expectations. Thanks to CNET for compiling this list:
  • Up to 1-GB of memory, about twice the amount as the iPhone 4;

  • High-res camera, probably an 8-megapixel;

  • Near-Field Communication (NFC) which will serve as a virtual wallet;

  • Voice control, allowing for voice navigation;

  • Improved graphics, possibly using Imagination's PowerVR SGX543 graphics silicon;

  • Dual-core A5 chip;

  • iOS 5; and

  • 3G, as 4G comparability isn't expected until possibly the next iPhone in 2012.
While one analyst thinks Apple may need to step up debuts on products -- the last iPhone came out about 16 months ago -- Apple seems to be doing just fine with it's current pace.

Apple is trading slightly higher early Wednesday, ahead of the expected unveiling of Amazon's (Nasdaq: AMZN) new media tablet device later on.
