Texas Sees $17 Billion in Construction Projects in Q3 2015

BidClerk Construction Index Reveals Over 3,800 Actively Bidding Projects

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- In the third quarter of 2015, more than 3,800 construction projects, worth over $17 billion, were actively bidding in the state of Texas.

According to the BidClerk Construction Index (BCI), a quarterly report from BidClerk, a leading provider of construction project data, the number of actively bidding projects in Texas increased by 10 percent in the third quarter compared to the second quarter in 2015. About 830 private and over 2,900 public projects were recorded throughout the state. Areas in the report include Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, El Paso, Houston, and San Antonio, Texas.

Texas high-profile projects out for bid in the third quarter were:

  • Visual and Performing Arts, STEM Academy and Classroom Addition
    • A $575 million addition and expansion of an educational facility in Fort Worth, Texas
    • Fort Worth Independent School District, contracts administrator
  • Liberty Mutual Offices at Legacy West
    • A $325 million office development in Plano, Texas
    • Balfour Beatty, general contractor

Nationally, BidClerk reported on more than 76,000 new projects, valued at over $200 billion, in the third quarter of 2015. According to BCI data from the third quarter of 2014, there were over 55,000 projects, with an estimated value of $165 billion.
