NEW YORK & LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Lazard Ltd (NYSE: LAZ) announced today that Sanford R. (Sandy) Climan has been appointed as a Senior Advisor in Financial Advisory, effective immediately. Based in Los Angeles, he will serve as an advisor to Lazard’s Global Telecommunications, Media and Technology Group.

Mr. Climan has more than 35 years of experience in senior management in the media and entertainment industry, holding key roles in both creative and business management. He is President of Entertainment Media Ventures (EMV), which he founded in 1999 to help bridge the worlds of media and entertainment with technology on a global basis.

Previously, Mr. Climan served as Corporate Executive Vice President and President of Worldwide Business Development for Universal Studios, where he oversaw corporate international strategy, strategic marketing and five studio operating divisions. Prior to Universal, Mr. Climan was the founding head of the corporate advisory practice at Creative Artists Agency, where he was both a member of the operating management team and a senior talent agent. Mr. Climan started his entertainment career at MGM, holding executive positions in motion picture and television production and distribution.

Mr. Climan serves on several non-profit boards, including the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, The American Cinematheque, and the UCLA Longevity Center of the Semel Institute for Neurosciences and Human Behavior. He has served on the Advisory Committee to the Director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and has been an advisor on entertainment and media to the World Economic Forum for over 20 years.
