BidClerk Construction Index Reveals Nearly $6 Billion in Contract Value

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Throughout the state of Pennsylvania, more than 2,600 projects, with a combined contract value of nearly $6 billion, went out for bid in the third quarter of 2015. Compared to the second quarter, the number of Pennsylvania construction projects increased 3 percent.

According to the BidClerk Construction Index (BCI), a quarterly report from BidClerk, a leading provider of construction project data, in Pennsylvania there were more than 300 private and over 2,300 public projects released for bid in the third quarter of 2015. Areas in the report include Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Allentown, Harrisburg-Carlisle, Reading, Scranton, and York-Hanover, Pa.

Pennsylvania high-profile projects out for bid in the third quarter were:

  • River Chamber Completion at Charleroi Locks and Dam
    • A $240 million project in Monongahela River, Pa.
    • Trumbull Corporation, general contractor
  • Early Learning Center and Elementary School
    • A $30.4 million new construction of a 152,000-square-foot early learning center and elementary school in Phoenixville, Pa.
    • Schrader Group Architecture LLC, architect, and Boro Construction, general contractor

Nationally, BidClerk reported on more than 76,000 new projects, valued at over $200 billion, in the third quarter of 2015. According to BCI data from the third quarter of 2014, there were over 55,000 projects, with an estimated value of $165 billion.
