‘A simple, convenient, and user-friendly online experience.’
LINCOLN, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Today the Nebraska Workers’ Compensation Court (NWCC) launches a new online service that allows Nebraska attorneys to electronically file court pleadings. The system was designed to increase both filing capabilities for attorneys and efficiency for users and the court. This is another step the State of Nebraska has made to improve litigants' access to the court system.
The NWCC eFiling service provides many benefits to Nebraska attorneys, including
- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week access
- Filing at no additional cost on both new and existing dockets
- 35 pleading options
- Mobile and tablet accessible
- Immediate confirmation of successful submission
- Monitoring & history of court pleadings
- Easy reconciliation reporting
In June, a group of attorneys were offered an opportunity to use the online service and provide feedback. During this limited offering, the court received 244 documents, an overwhelming success.
“It is simple, convenient, and user-friendly,” said Travis Spier, a partner in Atwood, Holsten, Brown, Deaver & Spier of Lincoln. “The court’s receipt confirmation email goes out almost immediately. Even those most sincerely devoted to ‘doing it the old-fashioned way’ will appreciate how quickly and painlessly the new eFiling system can be mastered.”
The system was created through a partnership between the Nebraska Workers’ Compensation Court and Nebraska.gov under the direction of Presiding Judge Laureen Van Norman.
“It has been a long-term goal of the NWCC to join the rest of the Nebraska trial courts in offering eFiling,” Van Norman said. “We are very optimistic that attorneys will find it to be user-friendly and similar to eFiling in other courts. I compliment our staff and Nebraska.gov on the success of the project.”
