Imation Enhances E-Series, Adding Increased Efficiencies to Data Centers

Efficient drive rebuilds, SSD monitoring and volume migration features enhance Imation’s high-density, high-performance and highly reliable data storage solutions

OAKDALE, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Imation (NYSE: IMN), a global data storage and information security company, today announced it has introduced a set of new features for its Nexsan E-Series™ family. With data growing at an exponential rate, storage solutions continue to use the largest capacity drives available. No matter how the data is used, a couple of things stay constant: the data must be easy to manage and must be protected from events that could cause application outages.

Taking these requirements into account, Imation has added the following enhancements to E-Series:

• Advanced Rebuild
  • Data-only rebuild – Rebuilds only the written user data to significantly reduce rebuild times.
  • Parallel rebuild – Rebuilds multiple disk failures simultaneously.
  • Suspect disk retirement - Proactively retires symptomatic disks before they compromise the array.
• SSD health monitoring – Reporting mechanisms show the amount of writes remaining on SSDs, providing the ability to proactively replace SSDs before they fail due to over-usage.
• Volume Migration – Volumes now can be moved seamlessly from one storage array to another without interruption to host access.
