Cubist Systematic Strategies Sponsors 6th Annual Behavioral Finance Conference
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Cubist Systematic Strategies, the quantitative investing arm of Point72 Asset Management, announced today it will sponsor the 6th Annual University of Miami School of Business Administration’s Behavioral Finance Conference for the third consecutive year.
The conference, to be held at the University of Miami campus in Coral Gables, Florida, December 12 - 13, will showcase the prestigious research papers from leading scholars from all areas of behavioral finance and economics. About 200 submissions are typically reviewed by the conference committee and only 10 to 12 papers are accepted for presentation during the two-day conference. John Campbell from Harvard University will be the keynote speaker this year.
“Cubist has a long history of collaborating with and supporting academia,” said Ross Garon, the head of Cubist Systematic Strategies. “It is important that our portfolio managers are aware of the most cutting-edge research available. We pride ourselves on fostering an environment that strongly supports our investment professionals in their research efforts.”
“We are very pleased to have the continued support of Cubist for what has arguably become one of the world’s most important annual conferences on behavioral finance,” said George Korniotis, an associate professor of finance at the University of Miami School of Business Administration. “This support has enabled us to bring together leading scholars to exchange ideas on research that offers new explanations for why stock markets do not always behave rationally, findings that can have significant implications for public policy.”
Cubist has also supported the advancement of behavioral science research through its sponsorship of the annual meeting of the Western Finance Association and the European Finance Association where scholars and academics discuss the application of research in finance.
