CloudPassage Achieves FedRAMP Ready Status on AWS GovCloud (US)
Halo agile security platform safeguards workloads for government agencies
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- CloudPassage® today announced that its Halo® agile security platform is now available in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud (US) Region. Halo is also in process to be named as a Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP℠) ready system: a milestone step that ensures the platform meets FedRAMP quality and security standards. Federal agencies and the Department of Defense can now leverage the speed and agility benefits of the AWS Cloud (US), meet FedRAMP standards for protecting sensitive assets, and enable continuous, on-demand security with CloudPassage Halo.
"As government entities move aggressively into cloud computing models, it's more important than ever to arm them with security capabilities that focus on automation, portability and scalability," said Carson Sweet, founder and chief strategy officer at CloudPassage. "Supporting AWS GovCloud (US) and achieving FedRAMP-ready status are key demonstrations of our ability to comply with the highest security standards, at any scale."
"Government organizations need to be assured that their cloud solutions are safe, reliable and trustworthy. FedRAMP enhances the level of transparency between government and cloud service providers," said Bart Westerink, Senior Director of Security and Compliance at CloudPassage.
In response to government entities wanting to benefit from cloud computing while facing an outbreak of sophisticated nation-state cyber attacks, Washington has issued a set of strict security standards that vendors must satisfy to be certified as FedRAMP ready. Federal agencies and government contractors can now trust that CloudPassage's set of on-demand, continuous visibility, security and compliance capabilities meet those standards.
"Security is one of the top reasons many enterprise organizations are reluctant to move critical applications to cloud," said Johna Till Johnson, CEO of Nemertes Research. "Delivering FedRAMP-ready security is a huge step forward in enabling cloud services."
AWS GovCloud (US) is an isolated AWS Region designed to allow US government agencies, private sector companies, nonprofits and educational institutions to move sensitive workloads into the cloud by addressing their specific regulatory and compliance requirements. The AWS GovCloud (US) framework adheres to U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) regulations as well as FedRAMPSM and DOD SRG Levels 2 and 4 requirements.
FedRAMP is a government-wide program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services. FedRAMP is the result of close collaboration with cyber security and cloud experts from the General Services Administration (GSA), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Defense (DOD), National Security Agency (NSA), Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the Federal Chief Information Officer (CIO) Council and its working groups, as well as private industry.
