California ISO Board Approves Energy Imbalance Market Enhancements

FOLSOM, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/04/15 -- The California Independent System Operator Corporation (ISO) Board of Governors today approved design changes to the western Energy Imbalance Market (EIM) as well as enhancements to the generator interconnection process.

The EIM tariff changes approved by the Board will address issues that were identified in the initial market design but needed the market to operate for a while to help develop resolutions.

Also, the ISO received the greenlight to proceed with generator interconnection process improvements. These tariff changes include firming up the processes in which systems affected by a new power plant can be part of the interconnection study.

Last, the Board approved amendments to the ISO tariff that will reduce duplicative paperwork for companies selected in a competitive solicitation to build, own and operate new grid infrastructure projects.

All the tariff changes will need approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission before implementing.
