CEMEX Recognized in the UK for Excellence Protecting Road Users

MONTERREY, Mexico--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- CEMEX, S.A.B. de C.V. (“CEMEX”) (NYSE: CX) announced today that its operations on the United Kingdom (UK) were recognized with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Annual Award for Excellence in Vulnerable Road Users Safety. The award was sponsored by Transport for London and highlights the initiatives undertaken by CEMEX UK since 2004.

CEMEX UK’s ongoing efforts in road safety cover all areas of transport business: driver training; additional safety features on CEMEX’s large goods vehicles (LGVs); a comprehensive education program working with cyclists to highlight the dangers about LGVs; and close cooperation with industry bodies to help achieve a national standard of safety features on vehicles and increase the awareness of the issues involved.

The initiatives include innovations in safety features such as additional mirrors, proximity sensors and cameras added where appropriate to CEMEX vehicles; as well as training sessions in safe urban driving for drivers in the London Readymix business, and awareness campaigns for cyclists.
