TD Cowen analyst Yaron Werber initiates coverage on Jasper Therapeutics (NASDAQ: JSPR) with a Outperform rating.
The analyst comments "Jasper’s Lead Asset Briquilimab Addresses Significant Unmet Need In CU. Jasper Therapeutics is a biotechnology company focused on developing briquilimab, an anti-c-KIT monoclonal antibody that depletes mast cells (MC). The primary indication is chronic urticaria (CU), a debilitating condition whose key symptoms (itchy wheals/hives and angioedema) are known to arise from the activation and degranulation of skin MCs. CU is an attractive opportunity given its sizable prevalent population (3.5M diagnosed and treated in G6 nations) and limited treatment options in the antihistamine-refractory setting (~40-50% of CU patients). In chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU), the sole approved 2L biologic is Roche/Novartis’s anti-IgE mAb Xolair (omalizumab), which is only effective in about 1/2 to 2/3 of patients and has low penetration (~15-40% per KOL feedback and our market analysis). In chronic inducible urticaria (CIndU), there are no approved therapies after antihistamines and patients are largely forced to manage their symptoms via avoidance of triggers."
