Morgan Stanley analyst Christopher Snyder initiates coverage on Ametek Inc. (NYSE: AME) with a Equalweight rating and a price target of $170.00.
The analyst comments: "The company’s flywheel is its closeness to the customer – this provides AME w/ an early read on top challenges which it then works to solve through R&D + M&A – AME can then leverage this technology across its broader portfolio and so the flywheel continues. This business model is less dependent on macro growth and brings strong pricing power, selling critical + bespoke products w/ limited competition. As such, AME is well positioned in the current macro where growth concerns are mounting and we view ability to defend margins into Trump 2.0 tariffs as top NTM revision driver. While the flywheel is durable and well positioned, our concern is that Consensus is setting a high bar on organic growth - modeling 5% in 2025-27, roughly 2x history and above our forecast of ~4%, a tough ask with ~50% of revenue coming from Int’l markets which we think will bear the brunt of US protectionism."
