WhiteWave Foods (NYSE: WWAV) shares are up Wednesday following commentary issued by CEO Gregg Engles to Jim Cramer on Tuesday night.
Engles said that non-dairy alternatives have seen a big pickup over the last few years, with quality and taste in items like soy and almond milk winning over many new customers. The products are also more sustainable than their counterparts, he noted.
The coffee segment has also been a big plus for WhiteWave and Engles is excited about the partnership to provide Green Mountain (Nasdaq: GMCR)-branded iced coffee products later this year.
One of the larger issues for WhiteWave has been the supply chain. Kinks have caused storage and distribution costs to build as the company works to ramp operations to meet demand. Despite the issues, Engles averred that the company was able to meet demand and supply continues growing right along with demand.
After recommending Dean Foods (NYSE: DF) ahead of WhiteWave's spinoff last year, Cramer thinks WhiteWave is a great way to keep riding the healthy eating wave as profit begins to surface.
Shares of WhiteWave are up over 1 percent Wednesday.
