Warner Music Group (NASDAQ: WMG) announced the appointment of Hannah Karp as Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer, effective January 26. The former Billboard Editor-in-Chief will join the company's executive leadership team and report to CEO Robert Kyncl.

Karp will oversee WMG's global communications and brand marketing strategies across the company's portfolio of businesses. Her responsibilities will include managing internal and external messaging, philanthropic efforts, and special events.

The appointment follows Karp's decade-long tenure at Billboard, where she served as Editor-in-Chief after joining as News Director in 2017. At Billboard, she managed editorial content across digital, social, and print platforms for a global audience of music industry professionals and fans.

Prior to Billboard, Karp spent 13 years as a staff reporter at The Wall Street Journal, covering the music industry and other beats including sports, travel, and economics. Her work included assignments in London, Brussels, and São Paulo.

"Hannah's expert insights, sharp instincts, and innovative approach to storytelling make her the ideal leader to help shape and communicate our future-focused vision during a time of rapid and dynamic evolution," Kyncl said in a statement.

Karp holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Duke University and a master's degree from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. She will be based in New York in her new role.
