WEBTOON Entertainment promotes Yongsoo Kim to president

WEBTOON Entertainment Inc. (NASDAQ: WBTN) announced the promotion of Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Global WEBTOON Yongsoo Kim to president, according to a company press release. Kim will lead global operations and focus on execution and innovation to drive the company's expansion efforts.

Kim has also been appointed to the company's Board of Directors. Under the new organizational structure, WEBTOON Entertainment leadership will report to the president, who will report to Founder and CEO Junkoo Kim.

Since joining WEBTOON Entertainment in late 2022, Kim has contributed to the company's financial foundation and played a role in its initial public offering in 2024. As Chief Strategy Officer, he led strategic initiatives including the company's collaboration with The Walt Disney Company in 2025.

Following the 2024 IPO, Kim assumed the role of Head of Global WEBTOON, overseeing growth in the United States and international markets outside Korea and Japan. In this capacity, he led transformation efforts across product strategy, organizational structure, and corporate culture, and strengthened integration of the entertainment business WEBTOON Productions.

Under Kim's leadership, the company introduced Video Episodes and expanded Creator programs. Prior to WEBTOON Entertainment, Kim was a Principal at KKR, where he led value creation initiatives. He was also part of the founding team of Tesla's Korea operations and served as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company.

Kim holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Yonsei University and serves as a director at LD Carbon. With the leadership change, CEO Junkoo Kim will focus on long-term strategy and vision, while CFO and COO David Lee will continue in his current role.
