Valley National Bank names Patrick Smith consumer banking president

Valley National Bancorp (NASDAQ: VLY) appointed Patrick Smith as Senior Executive Vice President, President of Consumer Banking, according to a company statement.



Smith will oversee the bank's consumer business strategy, retail banking operations, branch banking, small business banking, deposit generation, consumer lending and customer experience across Valley's market areas.



Smith previously served as Head of Consumer & Business Banking at Santander, where he managed nearly 3,500 employees and oversaw a retail banking business with approximately $48 billion in deposits and $14 billion in loans. His experience includes executive roles at KeyBank, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Capital One, as well as strategic consulting at Accenture.



"Patrick's leadership, vision and deep experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow and evolve our consumer business," said Ira Robbins, CEO of Valley Bank.



Valley National Bank operates as the principal subsidiary of Valley National Bancorp and maintains branch locations across New Jersey, New York, Florida, Alabama, California and Illinois. The bank reports $63 billion in total assets.
