Simply Good Foods Company (NASDAQ: SMPL) appointed Joe Scalzo as president and chief executive officer, effective immediately. Scalzo returns to lead the nutritional snacking company after previously serving as CEO until July 2023 and as executive vice chairman until August 2024.
Scalzo succeeds Geoff Tanner in the role. The company will appoint Scalzo to its board of directors on January 28, 2026, following its annual meeting of stockholders.
During his previous tenure, Scalzo oversaw the company's public debut in 2017 and led the acquisition and integration of Quest Nutrition. He spent a decade in leadership roles at Simply Good Foods and its predecessor Atkins Nutritionals.
"Joe is a visionary in our industry widely admired by our team and partners alike for his role as the key architect of the business over the course of the last decade," said James Kilts, chairman of the board of directors.
Scalzo stated he was "energized to be returning home to Simply Good Foods at this critical moment" and expressed confidence in the company's platform and potential in the nutritional snacking sector.
The Denver-based company confirmed its fiscal year 2026 outlook remains unchanged from its previous guidance provided on January 8, 2026. Simply Good Foods operates brands including Quest, Atkins, and OWYN, offering protein bars, shakes, and low-sugar snack products.
