Silicon Labs names Ian Dawson as chief information security officer

Silicon Labs (NASDAQ: SLAB) appointed Ian N. Dawson as Chief Information Security Officer, the Austin, Texas-based company announced January 6. Dawson will oversee the company's global cybersecurity strategy and governance.
In his new role, Dawson will focus on strengthening cyber resiliency, protecting intellectual property, and advancing security-by-design practices across Silicon Labs' silicon, software, and cloud-connected products.
Dawson brings more than 20 years of information technology and cybersecurity leadership experience. He previously held senior security leadership positions at Lumen Technologies and The Charles Schwab Corporation, where he led global security operations and enterprise resiliency initiatives.
His background includes building and leading globally distributed teams across security architecture, identity and access management, threat and vulnerability management, and security analytics. His expertise spans DevSecOps, cloud and product security, AI governance, and intellectual property protection.
"Ian's depth of experience building and scaling global security capabilities will be instrumental as we continue to deliver secure, intelligent wireless solutions," said Daniel Cooley, Chief Technology Officer at Silicon Labs.
Dawson expressed enthusiasm about joining the company. "I'm excited to join Silicon Labs at a time when security is both a core business enabler and a competitive differentiator," he said.
Silicon Labs describes itself as a provider of low-power wireless connectivity solutions, with operations in over 16 countries. The company serves markets including smart home, industrial IoT, and smart cities applications.
