Science Applications International Corporation (NASDAQ: SAIC) appointed James Reagan as interim chief executive officer, effective immediately, replacing Toni Townes-Whitley, according to a company statement.

Reagan, who has served on SAIC's board since January 2023, brings nearly two decades of senior leadership experience in the defense and government services industry. He previously served as executive vice president and chief financial officer at Leidos Holdings and held CFO positions at Vencore Inc., PAE Inc., and Aspect Communications.

"On behalf of the Board and entire SAIC team, we thank Toni for her many contributions, dedication and commitment to SAIC, our customers and our mission," said Donna Morea, chair of the board.

Townes-Whitley stated she has "collaborated closely with Jim during my time here, and I have the utmost confidence in his and the team's ability to capitalize on and fully realize the Company's growth prospects."

The board transition results in 11 directors, 10 of whom are independent. The company reaffirmed its fiscal year 2026 guidance previously issued on September 4, 2025, though noted that a prolonged federal government shutdown could affect its ability to achieve the guidance.

Reagan expressed confidence in SAIC's position, citing "compelling opportunities ahead and continued momentum in our business development efforts." He emphasized the company's role as a provider of technology and innovation to defense and government markets.

SAIC, headquartered in Reston, Virginia, employs approximately 24,000 people and reports annual revenues of approximately $7.5 billion. The Fortune 500 company serves defense, space, civilian and intelligence markets with mission IT, enterprise IT, engineering services and professional services.
