Penumbra Inc. (NYSE: PEN) announced the promotion of Shruthi Narayan to president, effective September 1, 2025. Narayan will continue reporting to Adam Elsesser, who previously held the president role and remains chairman and chief executive officer.
Narayan brings 20 years of medical device industry experience to the role. She most recently served as president of Penumbra's interventional business, overseeing daily operations and growth initiatives for the company's neuro and vascular franchises. She joined Penumbra in 2013 as a product manager in the stroke division before transitioning to help build the peripheral vascular division.
Prior to Penumbra, Narayan worked at Medtronic starting in 2006, where she held positions in engineering, regulatory affairs and cardiovascular sales. She holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Anna University in India and a master's degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Southern California.
"Shruthi is a dynamic, seasoned leader whose passion for innovation and proven ability to inspire global teams make her the obvious choice for this critical role," Elsesser said in a statement.
The Alameda, California-based company develops thrombectomy technologies for medical conditions including ischemic stroke, pulmonary embolism and acute limb ischemia. Penumbra operates in more than 100 countries, according to the company statement.
