OLD REPUBLIC names new president and CEO for surety unit

Old Republic International Corporation (NYSE: ORI) announced leadership changes at its Old Republic Surety Company subsidiary, naming Steve Denault as president and Alan Pavlic as CEO, effective immediately.
Denault, 59, joined Old Republic in January 2025 after a 33-year career at COUNTRY Financial, where he held various executive positions. He served as executive vice president and chief operating officer from 2019 and as CEO advisor in 2024. Denault holds a bachelor's degree from Illinois State University and a master's degree in agricultural economics from the University of Illinois.
Pavlic, 65, joined Old Republic in 2005 as senior vice president and claims general counsel before being promoted to president in 2013. He earned a bachelor's degree from Albion College and a law degree from Michigan State University College of Law.
Craig R. Smiddy, Old Republic International's president and CEO, said in a statement that Pavlic "has done a remarkable job at growing Old Republic Surety's presence in the surety marketplace and has built a top notch team." Smiddy added that the company expects "continued profitable growth" under Denault's leadership.
Old Republic International, founded in 1923, operates as a specialty insurer with property and casualty and title insurance companies across the United States and Canada. The company is a member of the Fortune 500.
