MSCI president Baer Pettit to retire, leadership changes announced

MSCI Inc. (NYSE: MSCI) announced that C.D. Baer Pettit, president and chief operating officer, will retire next year after more than 25 years in senior leadership roles with the company.

Pettit will continue serving as president and board director until March 1, 2026, and will remain as an advisor for a transition period. He joined MSCI in 2000 and held various senior positions including heading client coverage, marketing and index operations before becoming COO in 2015 and president in 2017.

"Baer has been my longtime business partner, and he has played a pivotal role in shaping MSCI's strategy and success," said MSCI Chairman and CEO Henry Fernandez.

Following Pettit's retirement, Fernandez will reassume the president title in addition to his current roles as chairman and CEO.

The company also announced several leadership changes. Alvise Munari has been appointed head of client segments while retaining his role as chief product officer. Munari, who has been with MSCI for 10 years and previously served as chief client officer, will focus on expanding products for new client segments.

Jorge Mina has been named chief operating officer while continuing as head of analytics. Mina will lead integrated operations across all products and functional areas. He has been with the firm for over 25 years.
