Lightwave Logic appoints Dr. Aref Chowdhury as chief technology officer
Lightwave Logic, Inc. (NASDAQ: LWLG) announced the appointment of Dr. Aref Chowdhury as Chief Technology Officer and Head of Strategy, effective January 1, 2026.
Dr. Chowdhury previously served as Vice President Strategy and Chief Technology Officer of Network Infrastructure at Nokia, where he led technology development and strategy for a $10 billion annual revenue business group covering IP routing, optical, access and subsea communication systems. He also held the position of Chief Technology Officer of Optics at Nokia and worked in senior research and intellectual property roles at Bell Laboratories.
Dr. Chowdhury earned his doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics & Statistics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He is a Fellow of Optica and Bell Labs, and received the MIT TR100 Award. He currently serves as the IEEE Photonics Society's Vice President of Professional & Technical Development.
In his new role, Dr. Chowdhury will focus on executing the company's technology strategy to accelerate commercialization timelines while ensuring product innovation, scalability, reliability, and competitiveness.
