Kingsway names Colter Hanson as president of skilled trades unit
Kingsway Financial Services Inc. (NYSE: KFS) announced that Colter Hanson has been appointed president of Kingsway Skilled Trades, according to a company statement.
Hanson previously worked as an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company, focusing on operational excellence and value creation for manufacturing and power generation clients. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Naval Academy and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
The appointment follows the recent departure of Rob Casper, who helped establish the Kingsway Skilled Trades platform over the past year. JT Fitzgerald, Kingsway's president and CEO, said Hanson is already working with leadership teams at the company's three plumbing subsidiaries.
Hanson served as a nuclear submarine officer in the United States Navy and spent his final two years of military service at the Pentagon supporting the Navy's Director of Operations and Plans before transitioning to business school in 2020.
"My immediate focus is to provide hands-on support to our current plumbing operations so they have the tools and resources to continue to scale," Hanson said in the statement. He added that he plans to grow the platform by acquiring companies that align with Kingsway Skilled Trades' culture and vision.
Kingsway Skilled Trades operates as a subsidiary that owns and operates trades businesses. The parent company describes itself as the only publicly-traded US company using the Search Fund model to acquire businesses.
