Huntington Bank appoints Senthil Kumar as chief risk officer

Huntington National Bank announced that Senthil Kumar will join the company as Chief Risk Officer on Feb. 16, 2026. Kumar will succeed Helga Houston, who will transition to a new role as Senior Executive Advisor on March 1, 2026.



Kumar brings 25 years of senior risk leadership experience to the $279 billion asset regional bank holding company. He most recently served as Chief Risk Officer at BNY, where he oversaw credit risk, operational risk, market risk and compliance functions.



Prior to BNY, Kumar held multiple senior risk leadership roles at Citigroup, including Chief Risk Officer for the Institutional Clients Group, where he managed risk for a global portfolio spanning more than 100 countries. He also served as Head of Risk for Financial Institutions and the Public Sector, and Head of Risk for Alternative Assets and Investments, Hedge Funds and Private Equity at Citi.



Earlier in his career, Kumar held leadership positions at Samba Financial Group, serving as Head of Market Risk Management and Business Head of Alternative Investments.



Kumar will report to Chief Executive Officer Steve Steinour and join Huntington's executive leadership team. Houston will continue working with the executive leadership team on strategic initiatives in her new advisory role.



Kumar holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and has a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the University of Madras in India. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and serves on the board of the American Heart Association's New York City chapter.
