Health Catalyst Inc. (NASDAQ: HCAT) announced that Chief Executive Officer Dan Burton will step down from his role effective June 30, 2026, to pursue volunteer service opportunities with his wife through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Burton will transition from his full-time CEO position and retire from the company after 15 years of leadership. He joined Health Catalyst in January 2011 as an investor and advisor when the company had three employees, initially planning to serve as interim CEO for several months.
During Burton's tenure, Health Catalyst filed for an initial public offering in 2019 and grew to serve 1,100 active healthcare clients with over 1,400 employees. The company has published more than 375 client case studies and enabled over $2.2 billion in client-approved measurable improvements, according to the press release.
The company maintained employee engagement levels ranking between the 94th and 99th percentile over the past decade based on Gallup assessments. Health Catalyst has received more than 125 workplace awards since 2013 from organizations including Inc., Fortune, Newsweek, and Modern Healthcare.
Burton will remain on the company's board of directors and support the search for his successor. Jack Kane, Chairman of the Health Catalyst Board of Directors, said the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee will conduct a CEO search.
This marks the third time a Health Catalyst senior leadership team member has stepped down for faith-based volunteer service. Chief Operating Officer Paul Horstmeier left in 2023 to serve as Mission President of the Puerto Rico San Juan Mission, and Co-Founder Steve Barlow served as a Mission President in Ecuador from 2017 to 2020.
Health Catalyst provides data and analytics technology and services to healthcare organizations, serving more than 1,000 organizations worldwide through its cloud-based technology ecosystem.
