DTE Energy (NYSE: DTE) named Brenda Craig as chief communications officer, effective October 30. Craig succeeds Paula Silver, who will retire at the end of October after 10 years with the Detroit-based energy company.
Craig joins DTE from Henry Ford Health, where she served as vice president of integrated communications. In that role, she was responsible for enterprise-wide communications and public relations strategies for the healthcare system serving 50,000 team members and more than two million patients across 550 sites.
Silver, who held the position of senior vice president of corporate communications, DTE Foundation and corporate citizenship, created the company's communications team and developed new channels for stakeholder communication during her tenure. She also provided strategic direction for corporate citizenship initiatives.
"Paula exemplifies our company's dedication to improving people's lives with our energy," said Joi Harris, DTE's president and CEO. "Brenda shares our passion for service, and with her proven track record of effective and caring leadership, I'm confident she will continue to deepen and strengthen our connections among our customers, communities and team members."
Concurrent with Silver's retirement, the DTE Foundation will report to Evette Hollins, DTE's vice president of customer and community engagement. Rodney Cole will continue as president and board chair of the DTE Foundation.
DTE Energy operates an electric company serving 2.3 million customers in Southeast Michigan and a natural gas company serving 1.3 million customers across Michigan. The company also has energy businesses focused on custom energy solutions, renewable energy generation, and energy marketing and trading.
