CuriosityStream names John Vilade as chief commercial officer

CuriosityStream Inc. (NASDAQ: CURI) appointed John Vilade as chief commercial officer, effective immediately, the company announced February 5. The factual media company created the new executive position to focus on AI licensing and partner growth initiatives.



Vilade will report directly to President and Chief Executive Officer Clint Stinchcomb and lead the company's sales and business development efforts. His responsibilities include driving growth across global distribution partnerships and expanding AI licensing relationships.



"John brings a bias for action, a growth mindset, an understanding of how to monetize content, and deep partnership expertise that will be critical as we scale our business," Stinchcomb said in the announcement.



The new chief commercial officer brings more than 30 years of experience in media, technology, and business development. His background includes senior leadership roles at NBCUniversal, Hulu, Discovery Communications, and Premion. Most recently, Vilade served as chief executive officer of 6P Color, where he led the commercial launch of color technology platforms.



Earlier in his career, Vilade was an early sales leader at Hulu, helping scale advertising businesses across national, local, and multicultural segments. He also held senior revenue positions at Premion, NBCUniversal, and Discovery.



CuriosityStream operates a subscription video-on-demand service available in more than 175 countries, along with linear television channels, free ad-supported channels, and original programming through Curiosity Studios. The company holds thousands of titles covering science, nature, history, technology, society, and lifestyle content.
