Sorfleet will retire after nearly 15 years with the Jacksonville-based railroad company. During her tenure, she served through the transition of four CEOs and held responsibility for the company's people strategy and culture development.
Chand joins CSX from AEA Investors, a mid-market private equity firm, where he served as Chief Talent Officer and Operating Partner. His previous experience includes senior human resources roles at BNSF, Energy Future Holdings, Kennametal, Mary Kay Cosmetics, and Aetna International.
"We are pleased to welcome Riz to CSX. He is an exceptional leader with a proven track record of driving talent development and organizational performance," said CSX President and CEO Steve Angel in a statement.
In his new role, Chand will oversee Human Resources, Total Rewards, People Systems, and Occupational Health Compliance. He will report directly to Angel and be based in Jacksonville, Florida.
Chand holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA from Southern Methodist University. He has served on the executive committee of the Health Transformation Alliance board of directors and as chairman of the United Way of Tarrant County board.
The information was disclosed in a company press release statement.
