Biofrontera names George Jones as chief commercial officer

August 11, 2025 4:25 PM EDT

Biofrontera Inc. (NASDAQ: BFRI) appointed George Jones as chief commercial officer effective August 25, 2025, according to a company statement. Jones will oversee sales, marketing, and market access functions while reporting to CEO Dr. Hermann Luebbert.

The appointment follows Biofrontera's recent agreement to acquire all U.S. rights and assets for Ameluz and RhodoLED from former parent company Biofrontera AG. Under the new arrangement, Biofrontera will pay monthly royalties of 12% to 15% for Ameluz, compared to the previous transfer pricing model that required payments of 25% to 35% of net sales per tube.

Jones brings over 25 years of commercial leadership experience in specialty pharmaceutical and biotech sectors. Most recently, he served as chief operating officer at UpScriptHealth, where he helped achieve a threefold increase in partnership revenues.

Previously, Jones held senior positions at Currax Pharmaceuticals as vice president of global marketing and commercial operations, and at Pernix Therapeutics as vice president of sales and marketing. Earlier in his career at Depomed Inc., he led marketing integration for five product acquisitions.

"George's proven track record of building high-performing teams, driving sustainable growth, and delivering patient-centric commercial solutions at mid-sized pharmaceutical companies makes him the ideal leader to accelerate Biofrontera's continued growth," Dr. Luebbert stated.

Biofrontera specializes in photodynamic therapy and commercializes the Ameluz-RhodoLED combination for treating actinic keratosis, pre-cancerous skin lesions. The company conducts clinical trials to expand product use for non-melanoma skin cancers and moderate to severe acne.
