Avanti Gold names Mohamed Cisse as acting CEO

Avanti Gold Corp. (CSE: AGC) completed its annual general meeting on December 16 and announced senior management changes, according to a company statement.
Mohamed Cisse was appointed acting chief executive officer effective December 18. Cisse joined Avanti as chief operating officer on September 30 and will continue in that role alongside his new position. He previously held leadership positions at Kibali mine with Randgold Resources and served as general manager of Syama Mine at Resolute Mining.
Swapan Kakumanu stepped down from his role as interim chief executive officer on December 18 and will continue as chief financial officer. Kakumanu had served as interim CEO since August.
Martin Pawlitschek, initially expected to assume the CEO role, elected to remain on the board as an independent director.
Shareholders elected six directors at the annual meeting: Sir Samuel Jonah, Mata Botima, Jonathan Hill, Terry Holohan, Martin Pawlitschek and David Renner. The board subsequently appointed Sir Samuel Jonah as chairman.
Cisse said the company plans to launch an exploration program on the Misisi Gold Project in the first quarter of 2026. The company is evaluating tenders and securing supply chains for a drilling program.
Avanti Gold's flagship asset is the Misisi Project in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which includes the Akyanga gold deposit with an inferred mineral resource of 44.3 million tonnes at 2.37 grams per tonne gold grade, totaling 3.1 million ounces.
