August 21, 2025 7:02 AM EDT

Avalon Advanced Materials Inc. (TSX: AVL) (OTCQB: AVLNF) announced the appointment of Lorin Crenshaw as Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately, according to a company statement.

Crenshaw brings 28 years of financial experience in capital markets, investor relations, and strategic leadership within the lithium and critical minerals industry. He most recently served as CFO of Compass Minerals International Inc., and previously held the same position at Orion S.A., a carbon black supplier.

Earlier in his career, Crenshaw worked at Albemarle Corporation in senior financial roles, including CFO of its global lithium business, treasurer, and head of investor relations. He also spent over 10 years as an equity and debt investor at Citigroup Asset Management and Prudential Capital Group. Crenshaw holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Florida A&M University and an MBA from Columbia University.

"Avalon is at an important strategic inflection point in its journey," said Scott Monteith, President and CEO. "Lorin's extensive financial and capital markets experience – including leadership roles in the critical minerals industry – makes him a key Ambassador in our efforts to build North America's energy and defence supply chains and create shareholder value."

Crenshaw replaces Jim Andersen, who will retire from the company in September 2025. Andersen has worked at Avalon since 1996, holding positions of increasing responsibility over nearly 30 years.

The Toronto-based company focuses on developing critical minerals projects, including lithium and rare earth elements operations in Ontario and the Northwest Territories. Avalon is developing a lithium hydroxide processing facility in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and advancing several mineral projects through joint ventures and direct ownership.
