Ardent Health (NYSE: ARDT) appointed Dave Caspers as president and chief executive officer, effective immediately, according to a company statement. Caspers, who previously served as chief operating officer, replaces Marty Bonick, who stepped down to pursue other opportunities.
Caspers joined Ardent Health in March 2025 and has led operational initiatives including the company's IMPACT program aimed at improving margins and performance. He brings experience from senior leadership roles at Walmart Health, Banner Health, and Target Corporation.
At Walmart Health, Caspers oversaw healthcare systems and omnichannel care delivery, including in-store clinics and virtual health services. During his time at Banner Health, he directed operations across 30 hospitals, 350 clinics, and 60 urgent care facilities.
Mark Sotir, chairman of Ardent Health's board of directors, said Caspers brings operational experience and understanding of the company's mission and strategy. Caspers has also been appointed to the company's board of directors.
The company reaffirmed its full-year 2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance of $485 million to $535 million. Chief Financial Officer Alfred Lumsdaine noted volume softness across the portfolio during the second quarter and said the company has accelerated its IMPACT program in response.
Ardent Health operates 30 acute care hospitals and approximately 280 sites of care with over 1,800 employed and affiliated providers across six states. The company provides healthcare services in mid-sized urban communities across the United States.
The leadership transition follows the company's initial public offering under Bonick's leadership, which occurred after the organization navigated operational improvements during the COVID-19 pandemic.
