Applied Digital (NASDAQ: APLD) appointed co-founder Jason Zhang as president, formalizing his leadership role as the data center operator scales its AI infrastructure platform.

Zhang, who previously served as chief strategy officer since August 2025, will continue partnering with co-founder Wes Cummins, who remains chairman and CEO. The appointment recognizes Zhang's role in shaping the company's strategy since its founding.

"Since the company's inception, Jason has been an invaluable leader within Applied Digital, demonstrating exceptional strategic acumen and an unwavering commitment to carrying out our mission while charting a rapid period of growth," Cummins said in a statement.

Zhang founded investment firm Valuefinder in 2019 after working on investment teams at Sequoia Capital and MSD Capital. At Sequoia, he focused on AI, blockchain, digital infrastructure, enterprise software, consumer internet, and hardware investments. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Harvard University.

Applied Digital designs, builds and operates data centers for artificial intelligence, cloud, networking and blockchain workloads. The Dallas-based company was founded in 2021 and operates what it calls the Polaris Forge AI Factory model.

The information is based on a company press release statement.
