Alaska Air Group (NYSE: ALK) announced the appointment of four executives to senior positions across Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air, effective this month, according to a company statement.

Nathan Engel was elected vice president of maintenance operations at Alaska Airlines. Engel brings 37 years of industry experience, including previous roles at Alaska, Horizon Air, Amazon, and Hawaiian Airlines. He most recently served as vice president of maintenance and engineering at Horizon Air.

Carlos Zendejas was promoted to senior vice president of operations at Horizon Air, where he will oversee flight operations, maintenance and engineering, and station operations. Zendejas has worked at Air Group for more than 20 years and previously served as Alaska Airlines' Seattle base chief pilot before joining Horizon in 2017.

Chéri Ruger was promoted to vice president of people, labor relations and inflight operations at Horizon Air. In her expanded role, she will oversee more than 600 flight attendants in addition to her existing responsibilities. Ruger began her career at Horizon Air as a flight attendant nearly 25 years ago.

Baron Converse was promoted to vice president of maintenance and engineering at Horizon Air, succeeding Engel. Converse joined Horizon Air in 1994 as an airframe and powerplant technician and has held various maintenance leadership positions during his 30-year tenure.

The appointments place experienced leaders in key operational roles as Alaska Air Group continues integrating operations following its acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines. John Wiitala will serve in a newly-created role as vice president of technical operations at Alaska Airlines, overseeing engineering, quality systems and material management.
