Acadian Timber Corp. (TSX: ADN) appointed Malcolm Cockwell as interim president and chief executive officer, effective immediately, according to a company statement.

Cockwell replaces Adam Sheparski, who stepped down from his roles as president, CEO and director to pursue other opportunities.

Cockwell has served as chair of the company since August 2019 and is a registered professional forester with a PhD in forestry from the University of Toronto. He is the principal of Macer Forest Holdings Inc., which is Acadian's largest shareholder.

"On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank Mr. Sheparski for his contributions to Acadian," Cockwell said in the statement. "Looking ahead, Acadian will continue focusing on operational excellence within our existing timberland assets in New Brunswick and Maine."

Acadian owns and manages approximately 775,000 acres of freehold timberlands in New Brunswick and 300,000 acres in Maine. The company also provides timber services for approximately 1.3 million acres of Crown licensed timberlands in New Brunswick.

The company produces softwood and hardwood sawlogs, pulpwood, and biomass by-products, selling to approximately 85 regional customers. Acadian also generates income through real estate and environmental solutions.
