Fiserv settles False Claims Act lawsuit with U.S. government

Fiserv Inc. (NASDAQ: FISV) announced it reached an agreement to settle a qui tam lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. The case, United States ex rel. Deborah Lynn Getchman v. Fiserv Solutions, LLC and Fiserv, Inc., involved the company's historical output solutions business operations.

The lawsuit alleged non-compliance with U.S. Postal Service Move Update regulations. The financial services technology company cooperated with the USPS and the U.S. Department of Justice throughout the investigation, according to the company's statement.

The matter relates to practices from a period when compliance methodologies varied across Fiserv's operations. The company has since implemented a unified, company-wide compliance framework that incorporates elements from previous programs to promote consistency and adherence to USPS expectations.

The settlement resolves all issues raised in the False Claims Act case. Fiserv stated it values its relationship with USPS and remains committed to supporting client mailing needs.
