CrowdStrike sues AiStrike over trademark infringement claims

CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: CRWD) filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against competitor AiStrike in California federal court on Friday, according to court documents.

The Austin, Texas-based cybersecurity company alleges that AiStrike's use of "Strike" in its name creates consumer confusion and misappropriates CrowdStrike's goodwill. CrowdStrike claims both companies offer artificial intelligence-based security services, increasing the likelihood of confusion among customers.

CrowdStrike, founded in 2011, provides cloud-based protection against data breaches and cybersecurity threats. The lawsuit states that Pleasanton, California-based AiStrike was founded in 2023 and offers products that "mirror" CrowdStrike's services.

The complaint alleges that AiStrike hired a former CrowdStrike executive, which CrowdStrike argues further increases the risk of customer confusion about potential company affiliation.

CrowdStrike is seeking unspecified monetary damages and a court order preventing AiStrike from using its current name. A CrowdStrike spokesperson said the company will "vigorously defend its intellectual property."
